Meet Emily and Eric!

Emily Phillippi:
Emily moved to Madison in 2007 to attend the University of Wisconsin where she majored in English, Psychology, and French.  During college, Emily studied abroad in Paris and also went to Kenya with Blackhawk in 2009 where her passion for social justice was kindled.

Additionally, she began volunteering as a vocalist on the Sunday worship teams at Blackhawk and met her husband, a fellow worship-team member.  After college, Emily traveled to Cambodia for 4 months to work with women exiting human trafficking and prostitution.  Emily married her husband, Eric, in July of 2012 and is currently employed as a worship leader for Blackhawk Downtown and is finishing her student teaching at Verona high school to be a high school English teacher.  In her free time, Emily enjoys coffee dates with friends, outdoor adventures, and exploring ideas and truths through creative mediums.

Eric Phillippi:
Originally from the Milwaukee area, Eric began attending UW-Madison in 2004 where he majored in Biology, Microbiology, and Spanish.  Throughout college, Eric traveled to Thailand, Honduras, and Guatemala for a variety of projects, played in the worship band at Blackhawk, was on the sailing team, Homecoming Committee, and was involved with the Navigators campus ministry.  Eric began medical school in 2010 at UW, and travelled with Blackhawk to Kenya in 2011 where he was able to exercise his passion for global health care.  He is currently a 3rd year medical student.  Outside of school, Eric enjoys ugly ties, spending time with friends, photography, building things, scuba diving, hockey, and is an ‘up for anything’ kind of guy!
